Nutrition with Megan Arissa |
Arissa; I used to constantly struggle with weight loss, dieting and staying healthy. My weight loss journey has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, and I wish I could have avoided all the mistakes I made from listening to the wrong people. 3 years later, and after many hours researching, I have finally learned now what it takes to lose weight the healthy way and keep it off forever. You have a choice right now. You can either believe that one day you are going to wake up with the body of your dreams. Or you can accept that the little things you do today, right now, will add up and lead to something amazing in the end. |

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you break the word in half, it literally becomes “break fast” which means it’s the meal that it stops the 8 hour fast (hopefully more) that you had while you slept.
Breakfast is crucial even if you aren’t hungry, because it kick starts your metabolism and gives you the energy required for the day! By skipping breakfast your body goes into starvation mode, meaning that everything you eat afterwards gets turned straight into fat! Now I certainly don’t want that!
For Breakfast I usually have a cup of oatmeal with water. I use pure oats, not the instant oatmeal because it doesn’t have any chemical enhancements or sugar.
I absolutely love oatmeal because you can always spruce it up with some fruit, berries or nuts. I like to add flax seeds or sesame seeds for extra protein and healthy omega-3 fats in the morning (omega-3 helps you burn fat faster and prevents hormone related cancer such as breast or prostate!)

Another amazing breakfast is eggs. I really don’t understand the whole controversy about egg yolks. They are extremely good for you! In fact, they contain most of the nutrients needed to perform throughout the day. The cholesterol present in eggs is good for you. Our bodies need cholesterol to keep our cells in optimal condition. When we eat healthy cholesterol our body actually slows down the natural production of cholesterol and gets rid of the BAD cholesterol!
Egg yolks are also high in vitamin D, which make us happier! I don’t know about you but I can really use a mood lifter in the morning!

When I’m not too hungry in the morning, a smoothie is the perfect fix for me! I usually add bananas for their natural sweetness and add any fruit I can find. To give it some more nutritional benefits I like to add some flax seeds (I promise you don’t taste them). I find that this keeps me satisfied longer and gives it a nicer texture.
I have a gluten allergy, which may make this list seem quite restrictive but you can customize it to your own dietary needs!
